History Happy Hour: Lost Colony of Roanoke

In 1590, Governor John White returned to Roanoke only to find there was no colony left to govern. Everyone was gone without a trace. All that remained was one word carved into a fence post: CROATOAN. What happened to these people? How could 118 men, women, and children simply vanish? While there is little consensus about this great historical mystery, we will consider different explanations for the colony's disappearance and perhaps come up with some theories of our own.
