Maya Rook is a certified yoga instructor who is passionate about making yoga and mindfulness practices accessible to everyone. She offers in-person classes and workshops in Maine.
Maya completed her 200-hour RYT from Pele Yoga (now Atha Yoga) in Rochester, NY, in the fall of 2019. Embracing a variety of yoga and movement styles—including vinyasa, yin, power, and dance—Maya strives to create an environment where students can move with freedom, connect the mind and body, and find ways to breathe into whatever circumstances arise. Her classes have been described as magical, intuitive, and meditative.
Raised in a Buddhist household and learning to meditate at a young age, Maya brings with her over 25 years of formal meditation experience. She worked as the Head of Programs for a non-profit meditation center in NYC, has taught introductory and specialty meditation and movement classes, and coordinated many retreats. With this solid ground of practice and hands-on experience, Maya aspires to make meditation practices accessible to everyone, break through common misconceptions about mindfulness, and help people connect with the present moment through breath and movement.
